Let’s continue our vegetable gardening journey into March!

According to The Old Farmer’s Almanac, March 13-14 are the best days to plant above-ground crops like kale, lettuce, or spinach. Below-ground crops should be planted on March 1 or 27-29. For April, the dates are April 14-15 (above-ground) or April 5-6 (below-ground crops).

TO LEARN MORE ABOUT PLANTING BY THE SIGNS, COME TO THE PROGRAM ON APRIL 2!!

Master Gardener Updates

The Lake Cumberland Master Gardeners are hosting bird and birdhouse programs, working on a plant fair, and an Earth Day something-or-other!

The 2nd Annual Home Tweet Home Birdhouse Contest and all the related bird programs described earlier in the newsletter are all Master Gardener sponsored programs.

Volunteerism is what Master Gardeners are all about. Sky Hope (pictured top right) is one of the places we try to visit weekly and teach the residents there about nurturing plants. In the picture, residents have begun cleaning up the vegetable beds.
